Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari is confident that his
side will win the World Cup in their home country.
The tournament hosts, who won the Fifa Confederations Cup
last year, will once again have the backing of their local supporters at this
year’s event, and along with their knowledge of the conditions and their
star-studded squad, Scolari is not even contemplating second place.
"The cup is ours,” the Brazilian boss told TV Globo.
"We have all the conditions to be the champions, in
both the football aspect and because it's always good to play at home, it's
like having an extra player.
"Nobody accepts second place, so why am I going to
talk about being in second place?"
The Selecao tactician then revealed that he has already
chosen the bulk of his team for this year’s Mundial, and has to only decide on
two more players in his final 23-man squad.
"We have selected 23 players, I still have to
determine two players," he said.
"We are scouring, watching. This one is younger,
that one has more international experience, that other one will feel the
pressure a bit more."
The coach was asked if anyone in his squad was
irreplaceable, to which he replied, "Nobody is, if there isn't one option,
there is another one."
Brazil face Croatia, Mexico and African opponents
Cameroon in Group A of this year’s World Cup.
