Former Super Eagles handler, Samson Siasia, believes that
the Home Eagles need winning mentality to beat the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire
in the return leg of the 2014 CAF Africa Nations Championship holding in
Abidjan on July 27.
The Bayelsa State Football Academy administrator was also
confident that the Home Eagles will qualify for the Championship after the 4-1
victory they recorded in the first leg of the match played in Kaduna couple of
weeks back.
“It is not a thing that is not possible for the boys to
go to Abidjan and win the match but they need to have a winning mentality first
and also believe that it is a battle they can win,” says the former Flying
Eagles coach who has been tipped to make a return to the team he took to the
2005 World Youth Championship in Holland.
“It is not easy winning the first leg 4-1 and if they can
do it here, they should also believe that they can do it anywhere. All they
need to do is just so believe in themselves and play to instruction and play as
a team as well.”
Siasia however advised the Home Eagles not to underrate
the Ivoirians while he also advised that they should look beyond the result of
the first leg match.
Nigeria have failed twice to qualify for the two editions
of the tournament designed for players plying their trade on the African soil.
