The French club have joined Chelsea, Real Madrid and
Manchester United in the race to sign the Uruguayan.
Paris St Germain have entered the race to sign Napoli
striker Edinson Cavani with the French Champions submitting a £43 million bid
to the Italian club according to Sky Sports sources.
PSG are looking to rival Chelsea for the prolific striker
after the Blues also made an approach to Napoli late on Tuesday.
Cavani was Serie A’s top goal scorer last season, finding
the net 29 times as Napoli finished runners up to Juventus in the Italian
League.
Since the end of the season speculation has been rife
that Cavani will be leaving Napoli with a wide variety of clubs interested in
his services, with Chelsea and PSG now making the first moves.
Chelsea are thought to be unwilling to pay Cavani’s £54
million buy-out clause and Napoli will not let the striker leave for anything
less.
Cavani is thought to be unhappy about the uncertainty
surrounding his future and will hold talks with Napoli about his buy-out clause
sometime this week.
However, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis will not
budge and has continued to state that interest clubs will have to activate
Cavani’s buy-out clause in order to be able to sign him.
Napoli are desperate to keep hold of Cavani and have said
that they hope the striker will see out his contract with the club, which runs
until 2017.
