AC Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani has confirmed
an offer from Newcastle United for young forward M’Baye Niang has been turned
down.
The Magpies were looking to add further French flair to
their side with the acquisition of the former Caen man and although the deal
was turned down, Galliani admitted one could be done in the future.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport about their report on
the player’s potential move, he said: “All that I will say about transfers out
at the moment is that until the first round of the Champions League is
negotiated, we will give away nobody.”
The pink pages of the Italian sports paper reported that
Alan Pardew’s side asked to take the player on loan for the coming campaign
with a view to paying €6 million next summer to make the move permanent.
Niang, who has also been linked with a switch to
Sampdoria as part of a deal that would see them sign Andrea Poli’s entire
contract, failed to score in Serie A in his debut season last year.
