Beşiktaş are a step closer to signing Tottenham striker
Emmanuel Adebayor according to Turkish newspaper Fanatik.
Adebayor has failed to attract interest from elsewhere
and the Black Eagles are reported to have made progress over the 29-year-old
striker's wage demands.
Spurs want €8 million Adeybayor according to player agent
Ahmet Düdük.
Eagles president Fikret Orman once against confirmed
interest in Adebayor but stressed that the main transfer priority is signing an
additional defender.
"We are interested in Adebayor however, our priority
is to sign more defensive players right now," Orman said.
Adebayor would become the ninth foreign player to join
the current Beşiktaş squad.
The Eagles are facing pressure from the Turkish Football
Federation (TFF) to meet new guidelines restricting every club in the league to
a maximum of 10 non-Turkish players.
Spurs transfer listed Adebayor after a poor season - the
Togolese international only scored five Premier League goals in 25 appearances.
Adebayor joined Tottenham on a €6.4 million transfer from
Manchester City last season and still has two-years left on his contract.
