Luis Suarez is set to tell Liverpool that he wants a
summer move to Arsenal, according to reports from The Mirror.
The Uruguayan’s future at Anfield has been the subject of
much speculation of late, with the striker openly pursuing a switch to Real
Madrid.
But, the La Liga side have so far failed to match his
eagerness, which has left the door ajar for Arsenal.
The Gunners are in the market for attacking
reinforcements, and are said to have turned their attention away from number
one target Gonzalo Higuain to Suarez after being buoyed by comments made by the
South American following an audacious £30m bid a few weeks ago.
Liverpool are aware that it may be difficult to convince
their star man to stay put, and are bracing themselves for a transfer request
once he joins up with the squad on their pre-season tour.
Although the Merseysiders are far from keen to sell to a
domestic rival, the Gunners are confident that an offer in the region of £40m
may be too tempting to turn down.
Suarez had cited treatment he has received from the media
following a series of misdemeanours as the main factor behind his desire to
move on, but it has since emerged that he in fact keen on playing Champions
League football
