Napoli midfielder Gokhan Inler has rejected a move to
England this summer according to his agent, as reported by Sky Sports.
The former Udinese man impressed for Napoli last season
and has reiterated his desire to stay with the club by rejecting a big money
move to a ‘prestigious’ Premier League club.
Arsenal and Liverpool have both been linked with the
holding midfielder in recent years and could be behind the mystery bid that was
rejected by the player.
New Napoli boss Rafa Benitez has had to sell his best
player in Edinson Cavani this week but appears to have the full backing of
Inler, whose agent confirmed as much yesterday.
“He’s very happy and he told me that he’s feeling good at
the starting of the training camp,” the agent said.
“There was an offer from a very prestigious English club
but we have not taken it into consideration.
“Benitez has told Gokhan his plans and he feels that he
will be important for both Napoli and the coach.”
