Super Eagles manager Stephen Keshi has revealed his
happiness with the form of Captain Joseph Yobo especially as the World Cup
draws near.
Keshi was speaking to Lagos state-based radio station
Brilafm on Friday as he spoke glowingly about the form of Norwich City
defender, Yobo, who has been in good form for his new team especially in the
match against Tottenham Hotspurs when he authoritatively shut out in-form
striker Emmanuel Adebayor.
“Joseph Yobo has impressed me since he moved to Norwich
and I will love him to continue with his current form which is good for his
chances to make the World Cup team.
“I am looking forward to seeing him and others during the
Mexico friendly in March. We have been monitoring the boys and we are pleased
with their performances for their various clubside.
“Yobo is a perfect example for the younger players as he
kept working hard and communicating with the team even when he is not playing.
We hope he stays fit and he doesn’t pick up any injuries,”Keshi revealed about
the former Fenerbahce defender.
Yobo’s understanding with center back partner Sebastien
Bassong was recently applauded by teammate Alex Tettey who said: “Joseph and Seb are clicking really
well. That’s good for the team and for
them, the way they are playing.
“They understand each other and it’s good for the team
that at the back, we can have that trust. It makes the team go forward, and
everyone calm down and play football.
Yobo is the most capped Nigerian player with 95 caps and
will be hoping to be the first player to get to 100 caps with the Eagles.
Nigeria will play in Group F against Argentina, Iran, and Bosnia at the Brazil
2014 World Cup starting in June.
