PSG sink Toulouse, Marseille win

French champions Paris Saint-Germain maintained their unbeaten start to the season as they ground out a 2-0 victory over Toulouse on Saturday to provisionally move top of Ligue 1.

Teenage defender Marquinhos netted his first goal in the French top flight four minutes prior to half-time at the Parc des Princes before Edinson Cavani converted a late penalty to send PSG a point clear of Monaco, who travel to Reims on Sunday, at the summit.

With an eye on PSG's midweek UEFA Champions League tie against Benfica, Laurent Blanc chose to rotate his squad as he made seven changes to the team that beat Valenciennes 1-0 on Wednesday.

Blanc: PSG have improved

The 47-year-old was happy with his troops following their 2-0 win over Toulouse in the French capital after a meagre showing in midweek.

Capoue Completes His Transfer To Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of French international Etienne Capoue for a fee in the region of £9m.

The 25-year-old midfielder joins the club from French side Toulouse where he made 174 appearances for the Ligue 1 side scoring 13 times.

Capoue, who has made five appearances for France, is versatile in defensive midfield as well as in the heart of the defence.

Tottenham beat Arsenal to agree £8million deal for Toulouse star Etienne Capoue

Tottenham have agreed an £8million deal with Toulouse to finally sign midfielder Etienne Capoue.

The 25-year-old France international has been a long-term target for Spurs – as well as their north London rivals Arsenal – with both clubs lodging offers in January.

However, Andre Villas-Boas looks to have finally won the race, with Toulouse president Olivier Sadran informing the local media that an £8million deal has been struck with Spurs for Capoue.

‘It’s going to happen,’ he told reporters.

‘Capoue will be joining Tottenham.’
