Tottenham have agreed an £8million deal with Toulouse to
finally sign midfielder Etienne Capoue.
The 25-year-old France international has been a long-term
target for Spurs – as well as their north London rivals Arsenal – with both
clubs lodging offers in January.
However, Andre Villas-Boas looks to have finally won the
race, with Toulouse president Olivier Sadran informing the local media that an
£8million deal has been struck with Spurs for Capoue.
‘It’s going to happen,’ he told reporters.
‘Capoue will be joining Tottenham.’
The tough-tackling ace, who held talks with Cardiff and
Atletico Madrid over a transfer a fortnight ago, is due in England for a
medical before the weekend.
Capoue will join a congested Spurs midfield that was
already bolstered by the arrival of Paulinho for £17million earlier this
summer, but exits are expected in the coming weeks.
QPR and West Ham are both after Scott Parker, while Tom
Huddlestone and Jake Livermore and both targets for Sunderland and Fulham
respectively.
Villas-Boas is likely to use the cash from their sales to
fund a big money move for Real Betis star Alvaro Vadillo, who is also a target
for Manchester United.
