Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of French
international Etienne Capoue for a fee in the region of £9m.
The 25-year-old midfielder joins the club from French
side Toulouse where he made 174 appearances for the Ligue 1 side scoring 13
times.
Capoue, who has made five appearances for France, is
versatile in defensive midfield as well as in the heart of the defence.
He will face stiff competition from Sandro, Moussa
Dembele, Scott Parker and new signing Paulinho for a starting spot as he is set
to make his league debut against Crystal Palace this weekend.
The highly-rated player, who was selected in the Ligue 1
2012 team of the year along with Hugo Lloris, was close to joining Premier
League new-boys Cardiff City after the clubs had agreed a fee, however The
Lilywhites swooped from under the noses of Malkay MacKay’s side.
The move comes after Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore’s
departure to league rivals Hull.
