Villas-Boas hails second-half showing

Sunday, 20 October 2013

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas was pleased with his side's improvement during their 2-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday.

Despite taking the lead through Andros Townsend after 31 minutes, Tottenham were frustrated by a determined Villa defence for periods during the first period.

However, Roberto Soldado eventually doubled the visitors' lead after the break and Villas-Boas noted the improvement his side made in the second half.

Villa unlucky in defeat, claims Lambert

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert felt his side were unfortunate to lose, after going down 2-0 to Tottenham at Villa Park on Sunday.

Goals in either half from Andros Townsend and Roberto Soldado did the damage for Spurs as they extended their unbeaten record against Villa to 11 games in all competitions.

However, Lambert felt his side could have got something from the game, had they taken advantage of their chances, notably Christian Benteke's off-target header just after the hour.

Valencia Line Up Loan Move For Chelsea's Senegalese Striker Demba Ba

Saturday, 10 August 2013

Valencia are launching a bid for a new striker from Chelsea.

The Daily Mail says Valencia are keen to take either Senegalese forward Demba Ba or Romelu Lukaku on loan as they look to replace Roberto Soldado.

Fernando Torres has previously been discussed, but it seems the Spanish side will look beyond the Chelsea striker and aim for his team-mates instead.

Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu has returned to Spain with Valencia on a season-long loan deal in June, having previously played for Barcelona.

Roberto Soldado has targeted a top-four finish this season after completing his move to Tottenham Hotspur from Valencia for a club record fee.

The two parties agreed a fee of £26 million for Soldado, 28, last week, with the deal hinging on a successful medical.

And Spurs announced the completion of the signing of the Spain international via their official Twitter account on Monday.

Roberto Soldado Completes Transfer To Tottenham

Monday, 5 August 2013

Tottenham have announced the completion of the transfer of striker Roberto Soldado from Valencia for £26m which is a record fee paid by Spurs.

The player passed his medical and with all negotiations completed successfully, he is available for the up-coming matches, possibly making his debut against Espanyol on Saturday evening at White Hart Lane.

The completion of the deal will be a relief to Andre Villas-Boas who saw Jermain Defoe go off early in the first half of last weekend’s match against Monaco
