The crises in Nigerian football looks set to spiral into
a new dimension as Sports Minister, Tammy Danagogo has alleged sabotage for
Nigeria’s 2-3 home loss to Congo last weekend in the opening qualifying fixture
for the Morocco 2015 Africa cup of Nations.
The Super Eagles are currently in Cape Town and preparing
for tonight’s game against Bafana Bafana but Nigerians are yet to fully get
over their first competitive home loss since the penalty shoot-out loss to
Cameroon in the final of 2000 Cup of African Nations, and Danagogo says the
loss to Congo boils down to several factors, including sabotage.
“The loss in Calabar can be attributed to a lot of
factors, a lot of them, I believe that they will be addressed.
“A lot of factors really, some of which I wouldn’t want
to talk about to the press. From late preparations, almost near sabotage
situations and several other issues but I will like to leave it at that, but it
will come to an end. Everything that has a beginning must surely have an end,”
Danagogo said.
And speaking on today’s game against South Africa,
Danagogo expressed confidence however that Nigeria will overcome.
“I have already sent words to them that they should
redouble their efforts and I believe that we shall overcome South Africa. We
need more bit and we need more consistency and they redouble their efforts and
the coaches get their tactics right, I expect Nigeria to overcome,’ he added.
The Super Eagles play Bafana Bafana on Wednesday night at
the Green Point Stadium in Cape Town in a highly anticipated encounter.
