News Update :

DEAR STEPHEN KESHI!!! PART 2.

Tuesday, 17 June 2014

Some many questions on the lips of disappointed fans after watching the abysmal performance of the Super Eagles against the Iranians. But are there some positives from that match – Let’s examine.

Dear Keshi, It was good to see the central back pairing of Kenneth Omeruo and Godfrey Oboabona once again. I know most Nigerians like me were happy to see the AFCON Best Central Back yet again. But the happiness was short lived in the 29 minutes when Godfrey Oboabona was taken off due to injury. And with a speed of light - the 100caps chaser, Joseph Yobo stepped on to the pitch. Injury is a natural phenomenon in sports – no one can be blame for injuries but it was a waste of a substitution in the early minutes of the game. ‘We’ pray Godfrey Oboabona returns before Saturday’s game against Bosnia.

Dear Keshi, your choice of calling up the untested Juwon Oshaniwa was not really bad afterall. Though the fever of the big stage affected his game in the first few minutes but he grew in confidence till the remainder of the match. I think if ‘We’ Nigerians are objective enough with our critique, Juwon Oshaniwa was fairly good against the Iranians. Your thoughts?

Dear Keshi, the mix of Ugenyi Onazi, John Obi Mikel and Ramon Azeez did not dance well to the music against Iran. It was one of the worst midfield set up by Stephen Keshi. During AFCON, we saw a ‘dirty’ Sunday Mba – making crucial tackles, covering well for John Obi Mikel and even scoring decisive goals. BUT against Iran, I saw the Almeria man -  Ramon Azeez playing in an advance role. A role that needs a confident player with pace, good feet and a vision for through passes. Why Keshi? Why?

Dear Keshi, should I use the word – Substitution Blunder or any technical term I could use? Keshi substituted Victor Moses for a rigid Shola Ameobi and i asked, why brought on a rigid striker to pair with a rigid Emmanuel Emenike in the attack that lack real invention and purpose.

Dear Keshi, the question on everyone’s lips as i stepped out into the busy Lagos street was – Why benched Osaze Odemwingie? Sometimes, I won’t want to blame the coaches for sticking to their loyal guns. BUT when a coach have an idea of the set up of a team like Iranians  – I believe he should opt out to play one of his most creative attacking player. The only spark in the second half was the Osaze Odemwingie’s ‘chested’ down volley. Only if he started?

The only positive from such an embarrassing performance is that, the Super Eagles hold their destiny in their hands due to the loss of Bosnia’s to Argentina.

A win against Bosnia and probably a draw against the Argentines will be enough to secure qualification into the second round. – My innocent permutation.

A win against Bosnia and Herzegovina is a MUST on Saturday.

WE WRE SUPER EAGLES!!! WE ARE BRAZIL!!!
