After helping AC Milan secure a third consecutive Serie A
victory with a win over Genoa on Monday night, defender Philippe Mexes stated
that a key to their recent upturn in form is a change in attitude by the
players inspired by the arrival of coach Clarence Seedorf.
The veteran centre-back also expressed his desire to
remain with the Rossoneri beyond the expiry of his current contract, admitting
that money is no longer a determining factor in where his future may be.
“I missed a year of my contract and will respect it until
the end,” Mexes told Sky Sport Italia.
“I hope to sign the renewal. I think of my adventure, I
know I am 32-years-old and am not looking for money, I got this because my
contract was expiring with Roma, which brought the gift of Milan.
“We are on the right track, since he arrived Clarence was
not easy but day after day we more compact and do not suffer all those goals
like before.
“Winning the match becomes less complicated, but we must
not give up anything and risk less.
“We were in trouble, but I do not think that we were
against each other, there was only confusion.
“Seedorf has not changed, he has only changed the
attitude of the players, he tries to put us on the right track.”
