Monday, 14 April 2014

Enyimba returned to winning ways at the weekend as they beat visiting Akwa United 1-0 in the Week 6 game played at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba on Sunday.

Former ABS FC striker Abdulrahman Bashir scored the only goal of the game in the first-half to seal the points at stake for the hosts, and effectively bring the visitors unbeaten run to an end, as the Promise Keepers had not tasted defeat prior to the encounter.

Akwa United however managed to hold onto their place at the top of the Glo Premier League table.

Enyimba’s fortunes have improved under caretaker coach Imama Amapakabo, who took temporary charge of the team after Zachary Baraje was suspended.

Prior to the win, the People’s Elephant held Warri Wolves to a goalless draw in a rescheduled game played in mid-week.

The Abia State-owned club have suffered a torrid star to the season, as the lost at home by Abia Warriors despite not conceding a goal at home all through last season.
