The Media Officer of the Super Eagles, Ben Alaiya, has
downplayed the furore that greeted the delay in the announcement of Nigeria's
provisional squad for the World Cup.
Alaiya denied reports that the postponement was occasioned
by a deadlock between the Federation and coach Stephen Keshi over the
non-invitation of certain players.
He informed that the list was not released to afford
Keshi enough time to add more players, as cover to the listed players who are
currently nursing injuries, or who could possibly get injured.
"The meeting was not postponed because of
disagreement from both parties. The NFF wants Keshi to still add more players
to his list in case of injury," Alaiya informed
"Also the Big Boss wants to still be given ample
time to get the main players he needs for the World Cup. There is no course for
alarm. The date of the meeting will be announced by the NFF."
