Roma will reportedly have to fight it out with Liverpool
for the services of Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen in the summer.
The 26 year old Belgian hinted last week that he may move
to new pastures if Tottenham don’t qualify for the Champions League, and this
has once again caught the attention of the Giallorossi.
talkSPORT reveal that Vertonghen – who can play left back
or centre back – has jumped to the top of Roma’s priorities in the summer, with
the club desperate to find a top quality partner for Mehdi Benatia.
If Roma fail to secure the highly rated Belgian, then a
move for Cagliari’s Davide Astori may be on the cards for the capital club.
Vertonghen has made 25 appearances for Spurs this season
in the Premier League.
