Real Madrid defender Pepe has insisted that his side can
win La Liga this season.
Carlo Ancelotti’s team slipped to third in the league
table following a 2-1 away defeat to Sevilla on Wednesday, three points behind
leaders Atletico Madrid.
Cristiano Ronaldo gave Los Blancos the lead in the 14th
minute at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, but Carlos Bacca restored parity five
minutes later.
The 27-year-old striker scored the second and winning
goal for Sevilla 18 minutes from full time to consign Madrid to their second
successive league defeat.
Madrid lost their 31-match unbeaten run on Sunday when
they went down 4-3 at home to Barcelona in the Clasico.
However, Pepe is confident that he and his teammates will
bounce back from back-to-back defeats and claims that they can still win the
championship.
“I would like to congratulate Sevilla, we tried to win
but couldn't manage it,” he told the club's official website.
“There are still matches left and it's still possible.
This has nothing to do with the Clasico. That's football. We have to be ready
to win Saturday's match against Rayo (Vallecano).
"We are playing well, we applied pressure, but it's
the small things. We have to concentrate better at certain points and know how
to read the game.
“Now we have no room for error. We have to fight knowing
who is in the battle for the Liga, and knowing that there is no room for
mistakes.”
