Glo PL Wrap: Heartland held at home

Monday, 10 March 2014

Three games were played across various centres on Sunday in the opening round of the Glo Premier League, with Dolphins holding Heartland to a 1-1 draw.

Heartland failed to win their opening day fixture for the second consecutive season as Ifeanyi Egwim scored for Dolphins to ensure both teams had a share of the spoils.

Kelechi Ekeh scored in the 35th minute of the game to give Heartland the lead after his free-kick was deflected into the net by an opponent.

But the visitors responded through Egwim who came in from the left flank, dribbled his way into the Heartland defence and delivered a shot which beat Achor Philip who manned the post for the hosts.

In the game between Lobi Stars and Crown FC played at the Emmanuel Atongo Stadium in Kastina-Ala, a late header from lanky defender Stephen Eze helped Lobi seal a hard earned 1-0 home win.

While in Uyo, Nnamso Edo's 52nd minute spotkick sealed a 1-0 win for Akwa United over visiting Gombe United.

SUNDAY's RESULTS:
Lobi Stars 1-0 Crown
Akwa United 1-0 Gombe United
Heartland 1-1 Dolphins
