Manchester United target Mats Hummels has his heart set
on joining Barcelona if he leaves Borussia Dortmund.
The Germany international is regarded as one of the most
assured centre-backs in Europe and is being trailed by a number of teams,
including United, Manchester City, Barcelona and Juventus.
United need at least one defensive recruit as they are
set to lose Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand this summer, while Barca are on the
lookout for a new centre-half after Carles Puyol announced his plans to leave
the Nou Camp.
However, the Premier League champions could miss out if
Hummels leaves as the 25-year-old 'dreams' of one day playing for Barcelona.
El Mundo Deportivo claim the defender is fond of Barca's
playing style and, despite having three years left on his contract, could
consider his future soon.
The Dortmund side built by manager Jurgen Klopp has
already been weakened by Bayern Munich, who signed Mario Gotze last summer and
will sign Robert Lewandowski at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, midfielder stars Marco Reus and Ilkay Gundogan
have been subject to much speculation this term and could be lured away during
the next transfer window.
