The Nigeria Football Federation on Monday commiserated
with the former international defender Chikelue Illoenyosi, whose father was
murdered by kidnappers.
Pa James Iloenyosi, 83, was kidnapped about three months
ago and his decomposed body was discovered by the police on Friday.
“This is a very sad incident. We commiserate with Mr.
Iloanusi over this unfortunate incident. We feel for him at this period because
he served the nation well in his playing days, and it must be quite tough for
him to lose his dear father in such a cruel manner,” said Barrister Musa Amadu,
NFF General Secretary in a press statement.
The elder Illoenyosi was reportedly kidnapped in November
around his country home in Abagana in Njikoka Local Government Area, Anambra
State.
The 83-year old man was picked up by armed men in a
Toyota Camry car around 8.30am just two poles to the house on his way back from
the Catholic morning mass service.
The police were unsuccessful with their search of the
Kidnappers until last week when they were apprehended and after interrogations
the kidnappers took the Police to where the body of the father of the
ex-Nigerian footballer was buried.
Chikelue Illoenyosi outside his stint with the national
team, played club football in Turkey with Fenerbahce, Rizespor, and later with
Al-Ittihad.
