Jose Lamela, father of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Erik
Lamela, has denied reports claiming that his son could move to Lazio in the
future.
The 21-year-old joined the Spurs from Roma in a deal
worth around €31 million before the start of the 2013-14 season and is yet to
make a big impact at the English club, which has led many to believe that he
could already be looking for a way out this month, but his father insists that
the Argentinian will remain with his current team for the time being.
Lamela spoke to LaLazioSiamoNoi.it about his son’s future
and admitted that he would be willing to make a Serie A return, though a move
to the Biancocelesti seems unlikely.
“He would go back to Italy, but he won’t be leaving
Tottenham in January,” said the father.
“When it comes to the interest from Lazio, I know
nothing. Erik would go to Lazio after having already played at Roma? I don’t
know about that.”
Lamela has made just nine Premier League appearances for
the Spurs this season thus far.
