Serie A outfit AC Milan are on the verge of scuppering
Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of coveted target, Fiorentina midfielder Adem
Ljajic. According to reports in talkSPORT, the Italians have tabled an £8m bid
for the Serb, and are in pole position for his signature this summer.
Ljajic’s future at Fiorentina has been under close
scrutiny in recent times, with the 21 year old reported to be undergoing talks
over an extension of his stay at the club.
However, the player’s demands of a
wage rise and his expectations of a lower £8m release clause, against his club’s
stipulated value of £12m, were expected to be major roadblocks in the process.
Meanwhile, for Spurs’ manager Andre Villas-Boas, Milan’s
bid means a host of problems.
The Portuguese has been bracing up for the
imminent departure of Gareth Bale and is busy searching for offensive
reinforcements in the market.
The Serb has also been linked with a move to Goodison
Park in recent times, with Toffees’ manager Roberto Martinez reported to be an
admirer of his game play.
He was also touted to join English Champions
Manchester United in 2009 from Partizan, but instead opted for a move to
Fiorentina, with the Red Devils’ interest in him never actually translating
into a formal offer.
