Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio is continuing to shape his
Black Cats side and hopes to sign Velez Sarsfield full back Gino Peruzzi this
weekend, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Argentinean was in the North East yesterday ahead of
the £5million switch that will make him Di Canio’s tenth summer signing and the
21 one year old is set to undergo a medical today.
Di Canio saved the Black Cats from relegation at the end
of last season which included a thumping away win against bitter rivals
Newcastle United, who coincidentally are yet to make a first team signing this
summer.
Peruzzi’s arrival will see the end of Sunderland’s buying
and begin the selling with Phil Bardsley the first man to be shown the exit
door after a bust up with the manager before the summer.
More than £25million has been spent at the Stadium of
Light this summer and so Di Canio now has to try and get some of that money
back from unwanted players.
