Gareth Bale had a stellar season in the Premier League
last time around but after Tottenham failed to qualify for the Champions
League, the Welsh winger was widely expected to leave for a bigger club. While
earlier, Bale was supposedly being chased by Spanish giants Real Madrid, a bid
did not materialize with the Carlo Ancelotti led outfit seemingly content to
wait till next season.
However, worrying times seem to be here again for Spurs
with reports in the Daily Mirror suggesting that English champions Manchester
United have turned their attention to their prized asset and are willing to
launch a massive bid, with the transfer fee touted to be in the region of £60m.
The Red Devils reportedly want to put the Wayne Rooney
saga on the backburner and are eager to flex all their financial muscle in
order to see new manager David Moyes succeed.
The aforementioned amount is staggering to say the least
and even though Tottenham would not want to sell Bale, it might just be enough
to persuade them to do business. It also might turn out to be a good deal for
Spurs, since they will then be able to invest heavily in other areas of their
squad and mount another challenge for a top four place next term.
