Fluminense have officially announced the sacking of manager
Abel Braga, following the team's recent bad form.
Abel Braga had been appointed as Fluminense's manager in
2011, and was the team's boss when the Tricolor won the league title last
season.
The team are currently in the relegation zone in the
Brazilian national league, despite being the current champions. Fluminense have
lost the last five games in the league, almost as many as the team had lost in
the 2012 season.
Abel Braga was also under contract with the club's
sponsor Unimed. Fluminense will need to spend around R$ 2 million to sack the
rest of Abel Braga's staff.
The new manager has not been announced yet, but Vanderlei
Luxemburgo, Ney Franco and Cristóvão Borges have already been linked to the
job.
