Sylvain Distin believes Everton are set for the new
season and that Roberto Martinez doesn’t need to do any more transfer business,
The Sun reports.
The Toffees have already bolstered their ranks with
Martinez having brought in Arouna Kone, for £6million, and Antolin Alcaraz, on
a free, from Wigan, as well as Joel Robles for £2million from Atletico Madrid.
Distin believes each of the new players have settled well
and that the increased squad size will only serve the Merseyside club
positively.
“The competition is there because it is a much bigger
squad now and we do not need any more players,” Distin said.
“We have got three quality players in — which is great as
we normally have a small squad.
“The new guys have felt at home from the very first day.
It is really easy to settle down in a team like Everton because we’re a good
group of guys who welcome anyone without a problem.”
Everton also have a strong crop of youngsters emerging
from their academy system ready to challenge for places in the first team.
And Distin, 35, is relishing the opportunity to help to
bring them through.
“If any of the youngsters needs a bit of help, then I
will be there for them,” he added.
“I want to help and talk to them. It is just the way I
am.”
