Cesc Fabregas is expected to hold talks with Barcelona in
the next 48 hours to discuss his future with the club according to Spain’s AS.
The 26-year-old midfielder will join up with his
team-mates on tour tomorrow after having an extended break following Spain’s
involvement in the Confederations Cup.
And sitting down with new manager Gerardo Martino is one
of the club’s priorities to make sure that his future is resolved as swiftly as
possible amid continued speculation.
Barcelona have stood firm both publicly and privately that
Fabregas is not for sale. Martino said that any bid for Fabregas would be
rejected and vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu stood alongside his firm
stance.
“Whatever offer United make, however big, we will say no.
Cesc Fabregas will stay a Barcelona player,” he proclaimed.
Moyes admitted he knew that United’s pursuit of Fabregas
never guaranteed his transfer and Barcelona have never faltered in their stance
that he is not for sale at any cost.
United are expected to lineup a third and final offer in
the region of €40 million and although Barcelona have no intention of selling
him, any player is available for the right price especially if the Spanish side
need funds to allow Martino to sign a new centre back following their purchase
of Neymar.
