Isiaka Olawale has apologised for his penalty miss for
Dolphins in their 2-1 win over Sunshine Stars at the weekend.
Dolphins were offered a chance to level the scores from
the spot in the 32nd minute, after Oghogho Oduokpe had curled in a free-kick to
give the visitors a stunning lead. But Olawale wasted the chance with a
surprisingly poor execution.
Although Dolphins went on to win the game thanks to the
heroics of Emem Eduok, Olawale has still taken time out to apologise to the
fans for the incident, which he reckons is all a part of the game.
“My penalty loss is one of those things that happen
sometimes in the game of football, and I apologise to our fans and at the same
time appeal to them to accept it as such," Olawale told the LMC's official
website.
"However, I pray it will never happen again. We
started with an away draw to Heartland and narrowly lost to Crown in our second
game but I can assure them that it will be a very good season.
"We will improve and fight harder to make the fans
happy. This is our first home game and by the grace of God, despite the penalty
miss, we have won the game and the vital three points.
"As we play on we shall come to good standing and
finish strong for a continental ticket," the former Kwara United and Lobi
Stars midfielder said.
