Nigeria defender Solomon Kwambe will return to Nigeria
after failing to agree terms with Vancouver Whitecaps.
Kwambe joined the MLS side on trial straight after the
African Nations Championship and was offered a deal after his two-week trial
period.
But the right back turned down the offer, according to
Mike Idoko, chairman of the Ondo State Football Agency which oversees Sunshine
Stars.
"What they offered him was not up to what he gets
here from Sunshine, and so he decided to come back home instead," Idoko
told KickOffNigeria.com.
Kwambe, who left Canada Thursday night, will now join
Stars training camp ahead of the season, as he looks to make Stephen Keshi's
23-man World Cup squad.
Despite the deal falling through however, Idoko says both
clubs have developed a mutually beneficial professional relationship.
"They are good people. We have established a
partnership which involves sending two players over there for training and
possible acquisition at regular intervals."
