Inter full-back Yuto Nagatomo has spoken about his
compatriot Keisuke Honda’s imminent move to cross-town rivals AC Milan, stating
he is looking forward to taking on his friend in the Serie A.
Nagatomo is now in his fourth season with the Biscione,
while Honda is due to complete his long-anticipated free transfer to the
Rossoneri from Russian side CSKA Moscow in January.
The two 27-year-old’s made their international debuts for
Japan in 2008, going on to play alongside one another over 50 times for the
Samurai blues, but will soon go head to head in one of the fiercest derbies in
world football.
“I’ve been teammates with [Keisuke] Honda in the national
team, we’ve shared dreams and goals,” Nagatomo told Fcinternews.it.
“Both of us worked together to get to the top, even if we
will soon find ourselves as adversaries.”
They may have to wait a while for the first competitive
clash between their teams however, as the next Derby della Madonnina in the
league is scheduled to take place in May 2014.
