Chelsea star Oscar has admitted that he almost signed for
Real Madrid in 2012 before Chelsea came in for him.
The playmaker was considered hot property when
Internacional decided they were willing to sell and according to Sky Sports,
Mourinho was keen on signing him at the Bernabau before meeting up with him in
West London this season.
In the end Madrid decided they had enough creative
players in that area and Chelsea took the opportunity to lure Oscar to Stamford
Bridge.
The Brazilian told Globoesporte: “A month before signing
for Chelsea I was very close to doing so with Real Madrid as Mourinho said he
wanted me.
“They came to watch me in the game against Denmark.
“Before the games there were talks with Madrid, but they
had the playmaker position well covered. After the games, I signed for Chelsea.
“Upon his arrival at Chelsea, Mourinho spoke to me. He
gives me confidence and I’m trying to return all such support on the pitch.”
Oscar has been enjoying a good season for the Blues so
far with five goals to his name.
Mourinho has opted to play him in the playmaker role
ahead of Juan Mata on many occasions despite Mata being the clubs player of the
season for two years running.
The 22-year-old will be in action for Brazil on Tuesday
against a Chile side who defeated England on Friday night thanks to two goals
from Alexis Sanchez.
