The 21-year-old has been monitored by the Premier League
duo after enjoying a fine start for Sporting Lisbon in the Portuguese league
this season.
The midfielder’s bright start and potential has not gone
unnoticed either with Portugal boss Paulo Bento after being called up for the
crucial World Cup qualifier clash against Sweden this week.
According to talkSPORT, reports in Portugal are
suggesting that it will be a three-way battle in January for his signature
after Serie A champions Juventus are plotting a swoop.
However the transfer will come at a cost. It is unknown
how much Lisbon would be willing to sell him for although he does have a
release clause in his contract of £37.5million.
Carvalho has been likened to former Arsenal midfielder
Patrick Viera for having a no-nonsense, robust style of play.
