Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger hopes to finalise a deal for
Bayern Munich star Luiz Gustavo in the coming days, according to the Daily
Mail.
Gustavo will move to the Emirates Stadium for £14
million, days after Wenger said his side need to splash the cash more in the
last few weeks of the window.
Big Spenders
Arsenal have not spent a penny in this transfer window,
but Wenger is looking to change that with the signing of Luiz Gustavo from
Bayern Munich.
Gustavo, a defensive midfielder, is looking likely to be
Arsenal’s second summer signing with Auxerre youngster Yaya Sanogo already
signed on a free transfer.
Gustavo did not play for Bayern, and his reasoning for
being left out was ‘it’s as you say.’
Wenger told the press, ‘We are a little bit thin
squad-wise’ as he looks to bolster his squad with some new signings before the
window closes.
The Gunners boss has told the board he needs to spend in
the coming weeks for Arsenal to have a chance in any competition this season.
Suarez
Luis Suarez has been linked with a move away from Anfield
all summer, but for the last month, his potential destination has been Arsenal.
Wenger has been eager to quickly play down talks that
Suarez is likely to come to the Emirates, as the Frenchman said, ‘If I listen
to everyone else, he [Suarez] is not available. But we’ll see. We will do
things in the right way.’
