Marca are running a feature story today which bids
‘Arrivederci’ to Gonzalo Higuain as they expect the forward to sign for Napoli
in the coming hours leaving Arsenal holding their bitey basket containing just
one racist egg.
Still the only issue to be sorted out is the one of
Higuain’s image rights but apart from that Marca are confident that all the
other details have been agreed – between the two clubs and between the player
and Napoli.
If I’m honest, which I tend to be on here, this news
makes me sad. I would have far rather have signed Higuain than Luis Suarez, a
player we are still some distance from landing. His baggage-free status and
lower price tag just sits so much easier with me but it seems as if we gave up
on him when Real Madrid upped his price and decided to go all-in for a player
who is dividing the fanbase like no other
.
Higuain will received approximately €6m per season for
four years at Napoli according to the report in Marca which is quick to point
out that this is not an official figure. That equates to roughly £100,000 per
week, a figure well within our newly cash-rich means.
Higuain will become the third player to leave Real Madrid
for Napoli this summer.
