Di Canio still chasing signings

Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio insists his summer transfer business is far from finished as he looks to add at least two new faces to his bulging Stadium of Light squad.

Di Canio has already brought in 10 new players as part of his Black Cats revolution but admits he is still searching for a midfield playmaker as well as a left-sided defender.

Ahead of his side's season opener against Fulham on Saturday, Di Canio said he was "99 per cent" sure of his starting line-up but stressed the importance of having competition for places.

Wenger insists he’ll sign more players despite a quiet summer

MANAGER Arsene Wenger maintains Arsenal are "still working" to improve the squad - but insists his young Gunners will be stronger next season regardless of whether there are any new additions ahead of the transfer deadline.

The Gunners have returned from a successful Asia tour to host this weekend's Emirates Cup, which did not take place last year because of the London Olympics, with matches against Rafa Benitez's Napoli and Galatasaray.

However, while chief executive Ivan Gazidis talked up the club's new "financial firepower" at the end of last season, that has yet to be transformed into any concrete deals.

Moyes confident of making new signing

Speaking to the media today, David Moyes says he’s confident of adding new players to the squad before the transfer window closes.

When asked about the potential Cesc Fabregas deal, Moyes revealed there was some uncertainty as to whether or not a third bid would be placed to tempt Barcelona into selling.

Add to that new Barcelona coach Gerard Martino admitting his club will ‘reject a third bid’ it’s likely Moyes will be exploring his options, but who fits the bill?
