Match Review: Juventus Vs Udinese by Stanley Princewill McDaniels

Monday, 15 September 2014

Juventus eased away with a convincing 2-0 victory over Udinese at the Juventus Stadium to underscore their perfect start to the 2014/15 Serie A campaign.

The Bianconeri drew first blood as early as the 8th minute when Stephan Lichtsteiner cut back from the right to thread a cross finding Carlos Tevez who beautifully slotted home for the opener.

Soon after was a smoke of controversy when Patrice Evra was brought down in the box by Panagiotis Kone-  The referee was not interested.

The home side continued to dominate play with Paul Pogba showing his "classical" technique mixing it with power thereby stamping his authority in midfield.

Udinese slowly found their rhythm when Italian Nigerian's Angelo Ogbonna got enough touch to divert Di Natale's headed effort wide.

Cagliari star Radja Nainggolan is reportedly in advanced talks with Juventus over a possible January move.

The Belgian international has been in the headlines in recent weeks as AC Milan and Roma are all being heavily linked with a move for the Isolani star.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Juventus are now seriously interested in the player and want to acquire his services in a co-ownership deal which will see Federico Peluso and Simone Padoin heading in the other direction.

Insigne: I Want To Become Napoli Captain

Saturday, 28 December 2013

Lorenzo Insigne has insisted his dream is to become captain of hometown club Napoli.

The 22-year-old has become a key part of the Partenopei this season and they look to wrestle the Scudetto from Juventus.

“I’ve always said that my dream is to play with Napoli for as long as possible and to one day become the captain of the team,” he told Sky Sport 24.

Benitez: Napoli can still win title

Friday, 27 December 2013

The Spaniard is remaining upbeat regarding his side's chances of mounting a title challenge after pointing to their points tally at this stage of the season compared to last

Rafael Benitez has insisted that Napoli remain in the Serie A title race and is convinced that they will challenge rivals Roma and Juventus to the very end of the season.

The Partenopei are currently third in Italy's top flight and sit 10 points behind leaders Juve, but Benitez - who replaced Walter Mazzarri after he opted to leave for Inter during the summer - is happy with the campaign to date.

Juve make it nine wins in a row against Atalanta

Sunday, 22 December 2013

Conceding a goal after so many games made it exciting, at least temporarily, as it looked liked Juventus might be facing a challenge. Alas, Atalanta could barely control the superior talent of their opponents and the Bianconeri went on to score three more to finish the match 4-1. Another week and yet another victory for Antonio Conte's men, who look simply unstoppable in the league.

On paper, this looked to be an uneven contest between the two sides. Whilst Juventus can't stop winning, Atalanta haven't won a match since early November. They are a team that struggle to create or score and going into the match, only Genoa had attempted fewer shots on goal then the Orobici. Defensively, they work well together and limit the spaces available to the opponent, even if they tend to concede a few too many shots.

Serie A Wrap: Napoli held, Udinese win

Napoli missed a chance to go level on points with second-placed Roma in Serie A as they drew 1-1 at Cagliari on Saturday.

Rafael Benitez's men could have put the pressure on Roma – who trail champions and leaders Juventus by five points – with victory, but had to come from behind to secure a point.

Cagliari, who have lost just one of their eight Serie A home matches this season, took the lead in the ninth minute through Brazilian striker Nene.

The goal was created by Davide Astori, who centred for Nene to stroke home with his left foot.

Monday, 16 December 2013

Juventus coach Antonio Conte praised his side after their 4-0 win over Sassuolo on Sunday afternoon.

The Bianconeri were looking for a victory after getting knocked out the Champions League on Wednesday and Conte was positive.

“I think there was no need to send any messages after the Champions League because the kids are doing amazing things this season although there is regret after the elimination in the Champions League,” Conte told Sky Sports Italia.

Galatasaray intentionally ruined pitch, Italian press reports

Friday, 13 December 2013

Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport has published pictures it claims prove that Galatasaray groundsman damaged the pitch before the Juventus clash.

Juventus are still reeling from their Champions League exit after a 1-0 defeat to Galatasaray that had to be restarted after a snow storm.

The game was completed at the second time of asking but the pitch at the Turk Telekom Arena was still in a poor state.

The sole goal of the game came from Wesley Sneijder in the dying minutes and sentenced Juventus to the Europa League.
