Thursday, 21 November 2013

Germany midfielder Julian Draxler will consider his future again in the summer but does not intend to leave Schalke in January.

The 20-year-old Germany midfielder was a second-half substitute in the 1-0 win over England at Wembley on Tuesday night.

While Draxler openly admits he is a big fan of the Barclays Premier League and has been linked with moves to both Arsenal and Manchester United, he insists his full focus this season is on making continued progress with the Bundesliga side to secure a place in Germany's World Cup squad for Brazil.

Don't judge us yet, urges England captain Steven Gerrard after double defeat

Steven Gerrard has urged fans to go easy on England as manager Roy Hodgson experiments on the road to Rio.

Successive home defeats to Chile and Germany have brought Hodgson's men down to earth after the comprehensive victories last month that secured their place at next summer's World Cup.

England will not be among the top seeds for December's group draw but Gerrard sees no reason to panic - and reckons a low-key build-up could work in their favour.

"I think it is important people are not too harsh on us. These games are all about experimenting and trying things," the Liverpool midfielder said.

Hodgson has made nine changes to the team that lost 2-0 to Chile on Friday, with only Wayne Rooney and Adam Lallana from that side starting tonight. He has also brought back captain Steven Gerrard, who has had injections in his hip to support ligaments in that part of his body, a procedure the player undergoes every two years.

Prandelli: Italy struggled to get to grips with Germany

The Azzurri kept up their impeccable record against Joachim Low's men, battling to a 1-1 draw, and the coach was pleased with his players' performances

Italy coach Cesare Prandelli admits that his side struggled at times to secure a 1-1 with Germany at San Siro on Friday.

Mats Hummels gave the Mannschaft an eighth-minute lead as he headed Toni Kroos' corner in off the post, but the Azzurri pulled one back through Ignazio Abate in the 28th minute.

Thursday, 14 November 2013

Philipp Lahm insists his Germany team-mates are not focused on gaining revenge against Italy on Friday.

The sides met in the semi-final of the UEFA European Championships last year, with Italy running out 2-1 winners in Warsaw.

However, despite that defeat against Cesare Prandelli's side, the Germany captain claims his side will not be focused on that disappointment in Milan.

"We have no thoughts of revenge, we cannot change the past," the Bayern Munich man said.
