Cabaye could get 'lost' at another club, warns Pardew

The Newcastle manager believes the France international's interests would be best served at St James' Park as the midfielder continues to be linked with a move away

Alan Pardew believes Yohan Cabaye would be making a mistake if he attempted to pursue a move away from Newcastle United in the January transfer window.

The France international refused to play in Premier League games against Manchester City and West Ham at the beginning of the season after the Magpies rejected a bid from Arsenal.

Pogba 'happy' at Juventus

Paul Pogba insists he is happy at Juventus, but confirmed there have yet to be any talks regarding a new contract.

Reports in Italy have claimed that the Italian champions are ready to offer Pogba a new deal following his impressive performances for the club.

However, Juventus president Andrea Agnelli also raised a question mark over the midfielder's future by conceding the club would find it difficult to refuse a 'massive offer' for the France international.

Tottenham beat Arsenal to agree £8million deal for Toulouse star Etienne Capoue

Tottenham have agreed an £8million deal with Toulouse to finally sign midfielder Etienne Capoue.

The 25-year-old France international has been a long-term target for Spurs – as well as their north London rivals Arsenal – with both clubs lodging offers in January.

However, Andre Villas-Boas looks to have finally won the race, with Toulouse president Olivier Sadran informing the local media that an £8million deal has been struck with Spurs for Capoue.

‘It’s going to happen,’ he told reporters.

‘Capoue will be joining Tottenham.’

Wenger urges Diaby not to give up on career

The Gunners boss admitted that the France international's nine-month lay-off due to a cruciate ligament knee injury was especially demoralising given his previous struggles

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that Abou Diaby will need to demonstrate a great deal of mental strength to revive his career after he suffered a serious knee injury.

The France international tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in training on Tuesday and is expected to be out for eight to nine months.

Diaby has struggled with repeated injury problems ever since joining the Gunners in 2005 but Wenger has urged him not to give up after his latest setback.

"I hope he will not give up and will continue," the French manager told reporters.

"When you look at the number of problems he had, the surgeries, he is 26 years old and has had four or five big surgeries. That demands a lot of mental strength to come back."

The 26-year-old has made just 14 appearances this season and has previously endured long-term absences brought on by ankle and thigh injuries.

Fellow midfielder Jack Wilshere is also currently sidelined with an ankle problem and Wenger expressed his surprise at the severity of the Diaby's damage.

"I thought originally it was just a little twist of the knee," he added.

"When they told me it was a rupture of his cruciate, and when you know what this guy has gone through, how many times he has worked day and night to come back in rehab, it is just demoralising.

"I hope he will find the resources and the strength to fight for a comeback because he was quite down."

Ribery: Bayern attract world-class players

The France international has hailed the Bundesliga leaders' renewed ability to sign big names following their success in Europe in recent years

Franck Ribery believes that Bayern Munich can compete with clubs such as Barcelona, Real Madrid and big guns from the Premier League when it comes to attracting high-profile names in the transfer market.

The Frenchman feels that world-class players previously preferred a move to Spain or England, but the Bavarians recent good results have made them an enticing destination, too.

"Bayern have always been Bayern. However, in the past, top-players were more likely to look at Barcelona, Real Madrid or the Premier League," Ribery told Sport Bild.

"Nowadays, you get the impression that world-class players would prefer to join Bayern. 

"The fact that we reached the Champions League final two times in the last three years speaks for itself."

Ribery joined Bayern from Olympique de Marseille in the summer of 2007, and has since become a key player at the Allianz Arena.
