Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has confirmed that the club
are keen on Lyon forward Bafetimbi Gomis, according to reports from The Times.
The Magpies have been linked with a number of attacking
reinforcements of late, with Papiss Cisse’s long-term future in the north east
far from clear.
Gomis – who is also thought to be a target of both
Cardiff and Swansea – is the latest name to have attracted Pardew’s attention,
amid speculation that he could be set for a summer move.
Lyon are keen to part company with the French
international in a bid to slash their wage bill, and are have openly admitted
that if the right offer is made they will sell.
