I seriously don’t
know what happened in this game, a worse performance from the Everton or
Besiktas in Turkey game, the whole match was annoying, I was standing for most
the 90mins and shocked at what I saw but I noticed a trend from the Crystal
Palace, I think Wenger is making the boys play differently this season, so I
guess it’s going to take a while to adapt but they need to do that fast because
the Arsenal fans shouldn’t be watching such appalling stuff.
Again Wenger went with Ozil on the left and again he was
disappointing in my honest opinion, we all know what Ozil is capable of, even
though he tends to be so lazy at times but on his day “through the middle” he is one of the best in the world and he
even said that during his mid-week interview, he wants to play through the
middle and he’s more effective central so it beats me why Wenger continues to
use Ozil through the left knowing fully well how that turns out, throughout the
game, Flamini, Debuchy and to an extent Sanogo where the ones who impressed,
Ramsey again was average. Debuchy was a constant threat down that right,
keeping Jeremy Schluup busy enough to think or run less at our team.
The first half started very slow, like I said they are
trying to play differently this year, more passing, short intricate passes,
narrower, and the boys haven’t adapted fully to the new style, so it’s still a
learning process, even though the fans might see it as annoying and slow, it
was not that bad, they tried to dictate the tempo of the game, risky but
effective when perfected , I miss the direct, fast movement and without Giroud
we lacked a little firepower, Sanogo didn’t really give us what we needed but
it was still an okay performance from him, he kept the defenders busy,
especially Wes Morgan (who in my opinion should be the Man Of The Match) who
was brilliant, he kept the ball well, found spaces for himself including the
goal and when in trouble he created the spaces, but we should still be looking
to get a striker amongst othersbefore the end of the window or else same old
story again this year, Podolski is not an out and out main man and sadly we
can’t fully rely on Campbell and Sanogo. The Leicester goal came through some
misfortune for us, the Koscielny concussion, the same thing has happened some
yrs back against Fulham and we conceded, I envy the courage shown by Laurent
but it’s not worth risking. Leicester were
excellent on the day, allowed Arsenal keep possession but pressed hard when
they got to the final third, Wes Morgan, Richie De Laet were brilliant for them
keeping things at ease at the back while Andy King, Jeremy Schluup and Leonardo
Ulloa made things happen upfront ,let’s not forget Ryahid Mahrez.
The second half was worse, poor passing, poor pressing,
poor organisation, lack of urgency. Arsenal were lucky to end the game 1-1,
anyone who just saw the stats at the end would disagree but it’s true,
Leicester were better, they had more clear cut chances, notably the one from
Ulloa in the 54th minute. The players were tired for most the second half and
Wenger did not make a sub until the 78minute. In all a poor game, I just hope
Wenger and co realise we need new faces in the team, a CB, DM and a CF,
September 1 is the date, if we have a successful day, hopefully the boys can
have an injury free international break then come back ready. Manchester City
next at the Emirates!! I am hopeful.
