General Secretary of the Nigeria football federation Musa
Amadu has told SL10.ng that 'elections' into the board of the NFF will be held
latest September 25.
There has been series of controversies over elections
into the executive committee of the Nigeria football federation, which
culminated in Chris Giwa being controversially 'elected' as President of the
NFF.
Only last week, former President, Aminu Maigari said that
elections into the board won't be held until the year 2015, but Amadu, who only
resumed work on Monday after a self-imposed exile told SL10.ng that 'feelers
from the congress' suggests elections will be held before September 25.
“From the feelers I am getting from the congress members,
although I cannot speak for them entirely, is that we should have elections
before the 25th of September,” he said.
“Once the Extra-Ordinary General Assembly that has been
ordered to hold holds within the shortest possible time to draw up a roadmap
for appointment of the electoral and appeals committees are done, then we will
have elections into the board within the shortest possible time.
“And I believe these will happen before September the
25th if the feelers from the congress are anything to go by.”
Meanwhile, it remains to be seen if that will happen as
the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has reportedly asked FIFA to stay any
action against the Nigeria football federation and for the NFF to return to
status quo as it were before its deadline.
This means the Chris Giwa faction will stay in office
until the case is determined by CAS.
“The Court of Arbitration for Sport has written to FIFA
to stay any action against the NFF until the case is determined. The deadline
given to FIFA is 11am Swiss time today,” first vice President to Chris Giwa,
Obinna Ogba claims.
