News Update :

Tamuno Danagogo says Stephen Keshi's contract is up

Thursday, 3 July 2014

The Minister of Sports, Tamuno Danagogo, has moved to clarify the position of things with regards to the purported resignation of Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi.

In a statement signed by the minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Patrick Omorodion in Abuja, the Minister said, “It is not true that Keshi has resigned. He told me that he never said so, that his contract only expired. I expect the NFF to the needful.”

The Minister also called on both Keshi and the NFF to treat each other with respect by engaging themselves in deliberations before taking the matter to the press.

Keshi yesterday denied reports of his resignation, stating that his speech to his players after the 2-0 loss against France may have been misunderstood.

The Super Eagles coach however revealed that his current contract is set to run out, the NFF have not made any moves to extend his tenure with the reigning African champions.
