Nigeria captain Joseph Yobo has urged his team-mates to
aim high and up their performance levels at the 2014 World Cup finals in
Brazil.
Yobo who was recalled to the national team after over a
year's absence stated that the World Cup offers yet another opportunity for the
team to add to their recent achievements, after winning the Africa Cup of
Nations last year.
"We have to give our all in the tourney because in
future people will ask when you were playing what did you achieved. We have won
the Nations Cup, now is the time to aim for the big one," Yobo said.
In a similar vein, Ogenyi Onazi who has become a mainstay
in the team in recent times urged fans not to read too much meaning into the
team’s performance in the warm-up games, promising that they will be good to go
before the World Cup commences next week.
"Yes, they say we have not been scoring many goals
but these are preparatory games, when we come to the tournament proper they
will see the real Nigerian national team," the Lazio midfielder said.
