News Update :

Nigeria captain Joseph Yobo would trade 100th cap to beat Argentina

Tuesday, 24 June 2014

Nigeria captain Joseph Yobo says he would trade his 100th international cap for a win over Argentina on Wednesday.

Yobo is on the verge (98 caps) of becoming the first Nigerian player to hit the century mark. But the 33-year-old insists he is not carried away by the publicity the milestone attracted.

The skipper insists that his immediate concern is to ensure that Nigeria book a safe passage to the next round, with a win over Argentina on Wednesday.

"It’s good news that I will reach that milestone but what is uppermost in my mind is for the team to win and for us to advance to the next stage. The rest will be a bonus," Yobo said on Monday.

The Super Eagles have already arrived in Porto Alegre for Wednesday's fixture which will be played in the Estádio José Pinheiro Borba at 5:00pm Nigerian time.
