The entire technical crew of Sunshine Stars of Akure have
been placed on half salary by the management of the club, after they were held
to a 3-3 home draw by Sharks FC.
The Akure-based club squandered a two-goal lead to draw
3-3 after the visitors rallied back with two late goals from Chima Akas and
Frederick Obomate to ensure both teams had a share of the spoils.
As a fallout to Saturday's draw, the Ondo State Football
Agency (ODSFA) which is charged with the management of the club announced that
the salaries of the coaching crew has been halved.
This information was contained in a statement released by
the ODSFA which stated that the coaching crew has been given a mandate to pick
a minimum of nine points from their next four matches, and failure to achieve
this mandate will lead to the appraisal of their positions in the team.
The statement also charged the players to re-double their
efforts and show more commitment and determination to win matches considering
the huge financial resources being expended by the Ondo State government for
their welfare.
The club tendered an 'unreserved apology' to the teeming
supporters and fans of the team who have passionately supported the club.
