Former Nigeria International Sani Kaita is set to make
his debut for Enyimba in a Week 11 game of the Glo Premier League on Wednesday.
Enyimba travel to Port Harcourt to face Sharks FC, and
Kaita who was signed as part of the Elite Players Project recently initiated by
the League Management Company (LMC) is expected to make his first Glo Premier
League appearance.
Kaita, who was recently cleared to play for the People's
Elephant, hailed the Elite Players Project initiative, stating that it will
attract more established stars to look towards home.
Kaita informed that making a decision to return to the
local league was not a difficult one. He noted that there are remarkable
improvements in the league but stated that there is still room for improvement.
"It’s the same football, whether in Europe or in
Nigeria. The game is already in my head but as someone with the experience that
I have, I know I am going to the pitch for business," he said.
"When the chance to play here came up, it wasn’t a
hard decision for me to make. I have been around here for a couple of weeks and
from what I have seen, we may not have arrived at where we are going to but the
league has definitely improved."
The player joined Enyimba on a short term deal after
missing out on the European winter transfer window and was offered the chance
to play for Enyimba International to sustain competitive fitness while looking
out for another opportunity to return to Europe in the summer.
