Nigeria's Golden Eaglets set for Egypt friendlies

Friday, 16 May 2014

Nigeria's Under-17 team are set to contest four friendlies against their Egyptian counterparts as part of their preparations for the 2015 CAN U-17 qualifiers.

The Golden Eaglets will host the north Africans in two matches in Abuja on May 28 and 30, before travelling to Cairo to play another two games against the Egyptians in early July.

The Nigeria Football Federation-organised series is geared towards preparing the Golden Eaglets for their CAN U-17 second round qualifier against the winner of Burundi and Congo's first round tie. Nigeria's youngsters were given a bye in the opening round on account of their World Cup heroics, and being ranked second on the continent.

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has confirmed that their U-17 team will arrive in Abuja on May 26. The EFA's executive manager, Sarwat Swelam, revealed their contingent, which includes 25 players and eight officials, will touch down at Abuja International Airport aboard Egypt Air Number 877.
