After being lauded for his hat-trick performance against
Cagliari on Sunday afternoon, Roma striker Mattia Destro has been brought back
down to earth by the Italian authorities who have issued him with a four game
ban for his clash with Davide Astori during the match.
Shortly after the Italian international had bagged the
first of his treble he was chasing down a ball which the Rossoblu defender was
shielding and appeared to slap the side of his opponents head collided, and
Astori was instead cautioned for a foul.
However with Lega Serie A having reviewed the video
evidence from the match they will hit the 23-year-old with a four-match ban for
the altercation.
The youngster, who would have been hoping his current
form would convince Italy coach Cesare Prandelli to include him for the World
Cup finals, will now miss the Giallorossi’s trips to Fiorentina and Catania,
and visits of Atalanta and AC Milan
